It is difficult to believe that at one time in history, people thought of the world as a large flat disk and thinking otherwise was considered irrational. They thought that if they sailed their large wooden ships to the edge of the earth, that they would just fall off and disappear. You would think that looking at the moon’s round shape every night, just might give them a clue. Once this was proven to be incorrect, people needed a way to map the world as we know it. The World Globe was born and it has under gone many revisions since it’s inception.

Fast forward to today and you will find globes just about everywhere. They are no longer only in classrooms. You can find them in the doctor’s waiting room, lawyers offices and some hotel rooms. They make a great conversation piece and just about everybody is drawn towards them, even if to just give them a spin.
With the modern technology of satellites, globes are now extremely accurate and have expanded to the outer reaches of our universe. In fact there are globes for the moon, other planets and stars.
Long gone are the boring days of watching your geography teacher point to that plain green globe with her pointer while you sat bored in the front row. Globes are now interactive and some even speak to you. These interactive balls of wonder are a fabulous way to get young children interested in the world and other countries. They can even quiz your child with fun games and facts. My kids have a talking globe and they love it!
Adding a globe to your room is stylish, educational and fun!
